Death By Drowning
Death By Drowning (Experimental/Industrial)

Death By Drowning does not, never has and never will exist...

JSL
JSL (Electronic/Hip-Hop Hybrid Producer)

Born and raised by a single mother on the (sometimes gritty) south side of Minneapolis, Minnesota, JSL has always had art and music in his blood. Forming even from small things, such as his family growing up next-door to Prince (The two families even had to share electricity from time to time.), to having nine aunts and uncles around that always had a paint brush or instrument in hand, this is how a style is born.

Composing music on several instruments since the age of ten, and then later, performing at every venue possible with numerous musical projects, JSL had gained quite a perspective on the music business/scene.

JSL broke free from his prior musical endeavors in the year 2000, and went on to pursue his solo career with a fresh start. Inspired by a lack of drive from his musical peers, JSL is determined to make a future for his growing family with these unmistakable talents. As a self-proclaimed perfectionist, to this day, JSL continues to push the limits of creativity, all the while remaining incredibly diverse and innovative.

JSL currently works as co-owner of [301STUDIOS] along with his Wife, and is recording the full length follow-up to his debut E.P. "just.". He also produces tracks for emcees world-wide, and is currently available for hire through [301STUDIOS]. Serious inquiries only.

Some emcees JSL has produced for/worked with include: Carnage (HECATOMB), Cue Dangerous (Villain Fan Club), DStruction (Bi-Polar, MA), Rock Solid (MA),

Little Tin Box
Little Tin Box (New Wave/Trip-Hop)

In October of 2000, as the seasons began to change, the leaves began to fall and the sky began to brew into a misty blanket of winter, Kelly found herself at the intersection of "life is over" and "whole new path". It was at this time that she had the honor of serendipitously running in to Charles. He needed a vocalist, she needed artistic fulfillment. Over coffee, conversation and collaboration, Little Tin Box was formed.

Since inception, LTB had gone on to record two full length albums and over the years had the honor of performing with many legends including the one and only Thomas Dolby. Little Tin Box essentially disbanded in 2007.

Biography coming soon...

Rek The Heavyweight
Rek The Heavyweight (Hip-Hop)

Rek The Heavyweight grew up south Minneapolis, Minnesota, in a household full of music lovers (his Mother and Father both being pianists). Music flowing through the house ranged from Duke Ellington to Earth Wind and Fire. Fast forward... Rek (Derek Turner) would become Presto, one member (along with Saddiq) of the Breakin' Angels and would make his splash popping and breaking. 1983 would be the year that Presto would accept the moniker of Rek and pen lyrics for the first time. He, along with King IXL and another peer, Omar, would form the MC/DJ crew 3 Tuh Get Ready. The threesomes' highlight would become performing with A Tribe Called Quest. Six years later in 1989 he and Sean Daley would become D. Spawn and Sluggo, forming Urban Atmosphere.

The two would begin performing live in 1993, brushing shoulders with Gage S. Lockhart and Brent Sayers. Eventually passion and concentrated effort between Spawn, Slug, Ant and Saddiq would result in the classic Atmosphere release, "Overcast". Paths that lay ahead would result in Rek branching off to pursue his own artistic vision. The track "Timeless" was dug up, blown off and re-released as a homage to his past and remains moving even today. It is one of, if not the first notable track to define Rek's ear for beats and his production style. He dove into his roots, piano, hip-hop and soul music and dedicated himself to the musical production and sound of hip-hop.

Thosquanta
Thosquanta (Industrial/Rock)

Alone in his tiny dorm room in the late 1990’s, Adam Powell constructed and refined a band he called Thosquanta. For the next few years, Powell went on to write, perform, mix and record two albums as this “band”, a dark industrial sound with a slight synth-pop edge. Years later while at a raucous Faint concert, Adam quite literally ran into Jen Plum, a singer and songwriter he quickly recruited for the new band, which was slowly becoming a strange amalgam of goth, industrial, rock and country.

After the underground success of “Phoenix”, their first album together as the new and improved Thosquanta, the band has joined forces with [301STUDIOS] to release “lovelife.”, a dark and heavy re-imagining of the project. Combining a wide variety of influences from goth and metal to hip-hop and industrial, the band has received comparisons ranging from Sister Machine Gun to The Sneaker Pimps. While the band name may not be easy to pronounce, it’s their ability to write a good pop song mixed with an extremely dark, electronic edge that has helped them emerge as one of the many artists grooming the Twin Cities for the electropunk takeover.

Word Clock
Word Clock (Melodic Hip-Hop/Dub)

Word Clock started in the Minnesota music scene by organizing and performing at the weekly electronic and hip-hop showcase "Unique Techniques". He served as DJ and sample manipulator for The Captain Rubber Band (a Minnesota funk group) and filled a similar position in the live hip-hop act Unification Theory, with MC's Omaur Bliss and Negative One.

Having performed at numerous venues, as well as at events such as Harvestfest and The Uptown Block Party, Word Clock is well versed in pleasing a wide variety of listeners. Also, during this time, he was booking countless solo DJ gigs and starting to mix original compositions into his sets.

Recently he's been focused on polishing his solo set, which now consists entirely of original material.

Word Clock also produces tracks for artists/emcees world-wide and is currently available for hire through [301STUDIOS]. Serious inquiries only.
